The Amazonas region in northern Peru borders Ecuador and is known for its dense cloud forests, rugged Andes mountain terrain and ancient ruins.

The native forests create a microclimate that produces organic matter for soil, microorganisms and fresh water. Such microclimates present perfect opportunities to grow coffee, and APROCOYCE offers its members the chance to increase the quality of their crop via improved access to services such as technical assistance, financial support, social services and the facilities to cup the crop they are growing.

Formed originally with 23 partners but now standing at just over 380, the aim was to come together to help facilitate negotiations, enter new markets, and obtain licenses or certifications for the export of coffee.

Through this they have been able bring in environmental initiatives such as reforestation projects, solid waste management and soil conservation plans for the 750+ hectares that their members own.

They now stand as one of the largest cooperatives in the area with not only a warehouse and administration offices, but a coffee lab too, which was created in 2021.

Located in Gedeo zone of the Gedeb district - known for its dense layered semi-forest vegetation structure encompassing false banana trees as well as shade grown coffee trees - Worka Chelbesa is one of the finest coffee producing areas within the famous Gedeb Woreda.

SNAP Specialty Coffee built a new wet mill in 2019 in Chelbesa Village with the hope of purchasing cherries from the local farms within the area. This particular lot has been processed using a traditional natural method.

Sorting is done using a series of floatation tanks that separates all floaters and immature cherries. During the process of floatation, the cherries are cleaned before being placed on drying beds for a period of 28 to 35 days.

This is a medium roast, giving you just the right side of fruitiness, with its Elderflower, Tropical and Cola notes.

A beautiful Honduras decaf coffee with flavours of Melon, Shortbread and Apple.

The Swiss Water process is an organic, chemical-free method of removing caffeine.

It is done by cleaning and hydrating raw coffee with pure water, then adding heat and introducing raw coffee extract, before filtering off the caffeine using a carbon filter so that the final coffee is 99.9% caffeine-free.

The Ayiso Lemi Cooperative are a group that form part of The Jimma Farmers Multi-Purpose Agricultural Cooperatives Union located in Jimma Town.

The union was established to support smallholder farmers and provide cooperatives and producer groups with training and technical assistance on sustainable agricultural practices, financial management, marketing, and export services for their coffee.

They offer production support to farmers, helping them access the necessary resources to grow and harvest their crops successfully, whilst also promoting environmental conservation and organic sustainable practices to help improve soil health, water conservation, and biodiversity.

Under the instruction of the Union, cooperatives now create their own organic fertilisers using animal manure and discarded cherry pulp mixed with lime. These fertilisers are then distributed to farmers at the end of each season.

This is a medium roast, with wonderful hints of Orange, Cranberry and Vanilla Sponge

Situated within the Amazonas region of Peru, the Alta Montaña Cooperative is made up of coffee producers from the region’s provinces of Rodríguez de Mendoza, Chachapoyas, Luya, Utcubamba and Bagua.

The Cooperative actively seeks to improve the quality of life for its members through strong quality harvests, organic certification and complementary economic activities, such as marketing of crops and business management support.

As well as coffee, the cooperative supports the wider community by participating in schemes that aim to improve the quality of local cattle, fisheries and aquaculture, as well as the planting of bio gardens within nearby towns and districts.

This is a medium roast, with wonderful hints of Grape, Apple and Honey.

Created in 2014 by a group of six friends predominantly involved with the COCAFELOL Cooperative, Finca Liquidámbar has an ethos of addressing social and environmental issues throughout their coffee production processes.

Fifteen hectares remain dedicated to forest and are left wild with the farm itself named after the trees native to the area.

Experiments around coffee pulp-developed compost processed by Californian red worm are being carried out on the farm and mucilage is being used to make products that serve as foliar fertiliser for the farm.

These experiments with organic fertiliser have been so successful that they have brought the techniques to the COCAFELOL Cooperative and rolled them out to other organic coffee producers in Honduras as well as other countries.
