2014 catch up & hello!

2014 Has been both an inspiring and adventurous year for both Dewerstone and myself, a year where new skills have been learnt and lifetime memories made. My name is Beckii and I am the newest addition to the Dewerstone HQ, I am an outdoor education instructor with a passion for whitewater kayaking and anything adventurous! This year I have been fortunate enough to go backpacking in New Zealand, work a summer season in France and travel in Canada, currently I am back in the UK saving up for my next big adventure, so when the guys at Dewerstone asked me to write their blog and keep it up to date I jumped at the chance! What an amazing opportunity it is to be part of such an up and coming company with a great ethos who I share a love for the outdoors with, so keep checking back to the blog as I will be posting regular updates.

Autumn has been a very busy and exciting season for us here at Dewerstone. With new and unique ideas coming out of the works everyday, 2015 is set to be a very promising year; both with new products and expanding our in-house production. As some of you may know, we recently moved Dewerstone HQ so we are currently working our socks off to really give it that Dewerstone touch ready for the grand opening in 2015!

We may have been a bit quiet lately, but the summer at HQ went by in a blur of Life Shorts and Sunglasses, at least our ambassadors really did make the most of the summer sun. Ambassador Rich had a busy summer with his Slackline School, practicing over both land and water – definitely making the most of his favourite life shorts, and completing his first High Line at Hound Tor! Check out his awesome video:

Our newest Ambassador James Weight also made the most of the summer and went traveling around Europe whilst competing in Kayaking freestyle championships. We look forward to supporting him and Doug Cooper who are strong contenders at the Hurley Championships next weekend! Do come and say hello if you’re at the event.

Female Ambassadors Laura Tejada and Louise Ansell have been busy climbing and putting our new women’s range to the test in the great outdoors, with our expanding women’s line and our 100% New Zealand merino wool base layers set to launch before Christmas you had better get your Santa’s wish lists at the ready! We really are excited about these products!

Lou's at one end of the rope and Laura's at the other. Dewerstone Ambassador teamwork!

As the rain has set to take over it has been great to see more and more kayakers paddling our local rivers on Dartmoor, and even better seeing many paddlers participating in safety courses! With the river Erme situated close by we have many kayakers, including myself practicing their rescue skills in the water and up the banks with Simon Westgarth (gene17kayaking.com) Our new merino wool base layers will be perfect for wearing when paddling and on courses such as this!

This is me, Becky, about to get wet and cold in the name of safety & rescue.

With winter and ski season fast approaching we look forward to seeing and updating you on what crazy adventures our ambassadors I(and us at HQ) are on and hearing what you guys are up to as well. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the latest news and don’t forget to share your adventures with us on Instagram, #admissionassistants. Check back soon for our next post on the Hurley Championships!
