Whilst the rest of the world went through the usual Monday blues, I was still buzzing from as always, an amazing weekend at the Hurley Classic.
Something for Everyone
One of the reasons the Classic is so popular is because it draws a variety of different paddle sport disciplines, there's pretty much a chance for everyone to let their competitive side loose!
Freestyle kayaking is the pedigree of the event, but with Boater X (head to head racing), team freestyle, SUP racing, squirt boating, and even a kayak rolling competition its an all round awesome event. This draws a lot of different people with a mutual love for the water.
Its warmer in the water
Another little Beast from the East rolled in for the weekend bringing freezing winds and snow, giving everyone that pained look on their faces. Despite this the event went extremely smoothly. The water was bustling with racing, freestyle heats and SUPing!
Retailers had their latest and greatest on display with a dusting of snow on their demo boats and boards, the Dewerstone store was stocked to the brim with new stock and steaming hot fresh coffee flowing out to satisfied fans.
As the freestyle final came to an end and the champions received their impressive slate trophies, it was time for everyone to pack up and head back to their warm homes, just in time for another little snow storm....
A massive shout out to Jacko and his team for organizing one of the best events in the world of paddlesport! If you're looking for dates to jot down in next years calendar, make sure this one is in there, I'll see you there!
The Hurley classic seems to have made itself a place for us to road test new products. The Hurley Special launched there two years ago and there was plenty of new product on show.
If you didn't make it keep an eye on the new arrivals section. Missed your chance for a Hurley special? Don't worry. They are back in stock.
